Wow, do you guys ever over value prospects. 😂😂 It's insane.
And the thing is, if you value Broberg as equal, or even equal-ish, to Johnson, I really don't see the problem with Guhle & DeLeo for Larsson given that they're relatively young still.
I'm going to accept this.

I agree prospects are overvalued but still a bad trade.

I agree prospects are overvalued but still a bad trade. Not really if you're valuing Broberg as equal to Johnson, and couple that with the retainment for the duration of Johnson's contract, I don't see any problem here.

Even if we’re saying Broberg is equal to Johnson (which I think would be fair if Edmonton was a year 1 cup contender and the missing piece was a top 4 RD, but I’d say chances are he’s not) Guhle and De Leo definitely don’t equal Larsson. Yes, Edmonton can grow them, but whether or not he plans on dumping upgrade points on them shouldn’t effect their overall trade value. Reject.

All we're required to do is assess the fairness of the deal, not whether we think a team is a cup contender or not.

You can make the argument of Broberg for Johnson, sure. But De Leo and Guhle are really just two depth players and definitely don’t equal a solid 2nd pairing RD in Larsson.

Well, granted, I don't think too highly of Larsson either, so 2 depth players for him seems reasonable to me, though DeLeo probably should be a higher rated player, it's not enough of a discrepancy for me to reject either. 🤷

Broberg is not worth Johnson Normally I would agree with you, but if that's how these guys want to assess their prospects, they'd better stop low-balling folks to get them in other offers to try and get them.

Make up your damn mind. 😂😂 I happen to agree with that since their contracts are of the same duration & there's no guarantees Broberg hits 86 in 3 seasons, nor is it guaranteed that Johnson gets downgraded in that time period either. Then you come to Larsson, who's a pending FA, so 2 depth guys is ample as an addition to Broberg/Johnson, though I think a higher overall player than DeLeo would be better, but I've seen worse that have gone through.

Those 2 depth guys are AHL depth though, not NHL depth. If Guhle was NHL depth it’s still a silly move but it’s at least more reasonable.

I mean I know most guys are trying to have all 80s in their NHL line up, which is fine, but the reality is that 77+ players are actually NHL ready, and with as young as Guhle is, he'll have no issue hitting the 80+ mark either through upgrades or performance.

Not by much. I’d say 77 is the *very* lowest you can get away with putting in the NHL. Anything below that is strictly an AHL player, even then your better off putting 77 overall players in the AHL or keeping them as your injury reserves.

Especially if you're developing guys in the NHL, where you get more bang for your buck if they perform well. I've played teams with 73-75 players on them and folks thought I was nuts, but they surpassed even my expectations.

Sorry Mr. Kruze. But a friendly reminder that Ottawa Senators GM and Buffalo Sabres GM are actually 2 different people. It's tricky because they're both hockey names, but they are actually different teams, therefore they have different GM's, meaning that 2 DIFFERENT people run those teams. SO even though Ottawa said Broberg = Larsson, and I said Larsson = Johnson, it does not mean that I said both Broberg = Larsson and Larsson = Johnson. It was in fact 2 different people who said that. So thank you for your hissy fit, but please make sure you look closely! Thank you for your time.
