Nathan MacKinnon has been lighting the lamp for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL this season. As of Mar.1st, 2013 Nathan has 108 points in 52 games. He's 37 points higher than 2nd in league scoring who just happens to be his set-up man Jonathan Drouin. MacKinnon is an elite skater. He uses his speed and acceleration to beat defenders and to create space for himself. At 5’11 and 180 pounds, he doesn’t have what we call a pro-size frame but he uses his low center of gravity to win one-on-one battles and knock opponents off the puck. MacKinnon’s shot is also very good. His wrist shot is quick and accurate, so is his backhand shot. With his speed and agility, MacKinnon’s vision and decision making are off the charts. He’s always in the right position and he doesn’t force the play where there’s no chances of success. He was already the favourite to go first overall in the 2013 draft, but his play has been so dynamic, there is no mistake that this player is now considered a "phenom" in the making. Effective immediatly, Nathan MacKinnon's overall has been boosted from 80 to 82, and his upgrade maximum has been increased from 84 to 86. Let the 1st overall draft race heat up, and good luck to all the teams in the hunt for the "Next Big Thing". - Pro Scout

Your link is a link to real life. My evaluation is based on simulation. Also, real life is Jan.20, sim time is Mar.1st. If you get the top pick and choose Jones over MacKinnon, that's fine too, you're the GM. Jones will be a superstar aswell, MacKinnon will just get there quicker.

Next big thing LOL. Did you watch the World Juniors? Even his linemate in Junior played 10 times better than him.

This is a great idea for the SIM LEAGUE!
IRL, I live in Halifax and this kid is simply amazing. He has alot of similar traits as Crosby, but he has less vision, but a better shot (not a bad thing, it is Crosby he's compared to here), but his biggest upgrade over Crosby is the compete level....and that's saying something.
Drouin is very good as well, but think Alex Tanguay (with a better shot) instead.
