So guys, I've had my ear to the ground, and I have a few tid bits for you.
- A very quiet team, don't expect anything out of these guys any time soon.
- Some talk out of Bean Town that the Bruins are looking to move the fiesty forward Brad Marchand. The Bruins may be having 2nd thoughts about that 4.5 million dollar raise they gave him that starts next season. Ference is also a name that has been heard. Look for something big out of Boston in the next few days.
- Have been heard shopping newly acquired Dan Boyle, but age and cap hit are always an issue when his name comes up. The Sabres are also activly seeking a 2nd line center.
- The word re-build has been no secret in Calgary. It's been on the breath of the fans for about 5 years now, and it looks like the GM has finally decided to do just that. Kipper, Cammalleri and Tanguay, among others were dealt early in the season... could Iginla and Wideman be next?
- The Canes have been shopping, and their centerman look to be the most interesting to other clubs. The Staal brothers, and Tuomo Ruutu have been the guys on the hot seat. Tlusty was moved to the Flames, and Jordan Staal is on LTIR. So does that shut the door on negotiations? With Cam Ward out for 6 weeks, at the very least, look for the Canes to shop for goaltending support.
- Duncan Keith has been on the block for over a month, but his injury seemed to wane interest. He's healthy now, so look for a deal to get done. Talks with Detroit and Winnipeg have been reported, but the Jet player in talks was Dustin Byfuglien, who just went down with a season ending kne injury. No word on who the Wings have on the table, but one would have to expect it to be youth.
- A young team who's on the re-build. Many teams have been trying to snag Gabriel Landeskog, but the Avs GM won't even consider moving the youngster. I wouldn't expect to see much movement here until the deadline, when buyers are looking for playoff depth. Kobasew, Hecht, Radulov and Hejda will be likely players to move.
- This GM is a real tool. It's as if he doesn't exist. The way the team is playing though, it's not a problem. This team has been icing 70, and 71 rated players, and still winning games.
- Remember when this GM was one of the most active GM's in sim leagues? Me too... I miss that guy. The team could use a move or two, but it may not happen until the dealine. Look for Dallas to be a big player in the Iginla sweepstakes.
- A very experienced GM who was recently acquired by the Wings has already pulled the trigger on a large deal with the Canadiens. They gave up the young stud D-man Brendan Smith along with a pile of draft picks to acquire veterans Brian Gionta and Tomas Kaberle. As if the Wings weren't enough of a threat, the West will have their hands full down the stretch trying to hold this team back.
- The Oilers have been a "future threat" for many years now. They've showed signs that they can be an offensive powerhouse, but they are very inconsistant. A lot of the blame could be given to their goaltending. If that problem between the pipes isn't addressed soon, the Oilers playoff hopes will likely slip away.
- The Panthers are shopping Huberdeau, but the GM won't answer the phone. WTF?
- Richards and Carter were seen partying with the Kardashian sisters in Downtown Los Angeles. The LA Kings GM is shopping them around because he doesn't want any baby mama drama in his hockey club.
- The Wild are on the hunt for a new GM, the interim GM Peter Sidorkiewicz has not been given the green light to make any deals.
- The Habs have been one of the most active GM's this season, working hard on his re-build. A very large trade with Washington, and now Detroit, the Canadiens are looking younger, and are holding many cards going into the draft. Don't expect them to stop either, Eric Cole and Josh Gorges are on the block. Phoenix and Chicago are two teams in the mix. Expect another blockbuster out of Montreal very soon.
- Much like the Wild, the Preds are shopping for a GM. The team started the year a terrible 0-12-1, but have played much better of late. If they get a GM, expect a lot of changes in Nashville, and quite possibley the 1st overall pick.
- This team is awful, just plain putrid. Someone save Kovalchuk!
- The Islanders are shopping Niederreiter and Matt Moulson. They could really use some depth. Look for the re-builders to come knocking on the islanders door.
- This GM has been missing for days... well the whole season really. No trades, no UFA signings, what's the deal? The team has been playing pretty poorly. The fans of New York might start calling for a new GM, especially if they miss the playoffs.
- What a surprising team so far. A very ugly team on paper is winning games, and the playoffs seem likely for the Sens. Don't expect any moves here.
- The GM went on holidays and never came back. A new GM is likely the next target for the Flyers.
:phx: - A team that just can't seem to stretch together wins. It hasn't been from a lack of effort by the teams GM. He's one of the most active GM's looking for deals, but his lack of talent to offer looks to be his downfall. A deal is in the works for Matt Moulson as we speak, and it's also rumoured that Rene Bourque in Montreal will don the Coyote sweater soon.
- The cup favourite right now. The top line of Crosby, Malkin and Neal (sometimes Sniper Tanner Glass ) has been unstoppable. The GM has done nothing to help get this team to where it is, so can he really take any credit if he does win the cup? I don't think so, and neither does the GM of the Capitals. Look for Malkin to get dealt to Washington so Pens can be a man, and build the team his way instead of just riding an already built winner.
- Always shopping, but has no money. The Sharks wanna deal, but don't want to give anything up. Will this work? Nope, so someone needs to be dangled as bait, or J.M. Liles might be the only new face in San Jose this season.
- The Blues have put Shattenkirk and Jackman on the block, but no deals have been done. It's likely the Blues have something up their sleeve, but won't pull the trigger until he feels desperate. Injuries have tortured the Blues so far this season, so if they want depth for the playoffs, they better start shopping. Otherwise a quick exit from the playoffs could be a serious reality.
- This team needs depth and a GM. When will it happen? Hopefully soon.
- A pile of huge trades at the beginning of the season looks to have payed off big time. The Leafs look better than they have in years. Don't expect much trade talk here until the deadline. They will certainly look for depth at that point, but for now they'll likely just ride the waive.
- Vancouver has had a pretty poor start to the season. Clearly they are in need of depth up front. Ryan Kesler, David Booth and Karl Alzner are being shopped to help with the problem. If they don't pull the trigger soon, they're playoff hopes will vanish quicker that a dollar bill in a whore house.
- A big trade with Montreal has payed off well so far for the Caps. Moving Backstrom for Plekanec had Ovechkin sweating a bit, but the two have been developing chemistry quite well so far. Now that Kovalev has returned from injury, the three are expected to light the lamp frequently down the stretch. Expect the caps to move Neuvirth in the next week. Carolina and Los Angelas are possible destinations.
- The Jets made a great trade acquiring Patrick Kane from the Hawks, and are in talks with Chicago again looking at Duncan Keith. With Byfuglien out for the season, they might not have the assets now, but perhaps they'll look at someone like Leddy or Hjalmarsson instead.
That is all. Thanks for all the tips and rumours boys, keep them coming.
