Pretty sure you have to be on nhl team at trade deadline to be eligible for playoffs. I think irl you can still technically make trades after the trade deadline and during playoffs but players are not eligible.

What NYI said, it happens on occasion, mainly AHL deals. That's why the AHL signings were fine
