To LD Simon Edvinsson TWD 86 (20) 3.0M RFA 2024 G Sergei Bobrovsky HYB 88 (34) 10M UFA 2026 -> ANA Retain 4M For Contract CAP 6.0M LD Vince Dunn TWD 83 (26) 3.0 UFA 2024 To LD Samuel Girard TWD 89 (25) 5M UFA 2027 RD Kris Letang TWD 88 (36) 8.25M UFA 2024 [EDM retains 4.125M] G Kristers Steinbergs HYB 74 (18) 1.5M RFA 2026 This gives Edmonton a really young and promising first pair in Edvinsson and Nemec. Bobby won Vezina and is younger than Letang who is 36 and on an expiring contract. Girard is on a great deal which makes it desirable for me since I likely can't afford to re-sign Edvinsson at 7.5M+. Dunn and Steinbergs are included in the deal to make it be two defensemen and one goalie swapped by both sides and to make cap work for me

If the goalie going to CGY is just a throw in, why is it Steinbergs? Should be one of EDM's 3 AHL goalies listed on their roster instead of Steinbergs.
He was just drafted 17th overall in the last draft

Reject until Edmonton does stuff in this league besides make trades and have to be asked repeatedly to update his roster. Dude had Tarasenko suspended for most of the year because he couldn’t be bothers to update. I tried to help but we can’t be holding hands forever.

I was going to ask if the dudes roster is even up to date? Carolina Hurricanes GM do you know before I reject/accept?

Yeah his roster is up to date. I agree with NYI. It should probably be one of the other goalies, and not the best goalie prospect from the last 2 drafts. Don’t think Dunn holds that kinda value. And if we’re being consistent, Askarov got quite the return if I remember correctly. Precisely because he was the best goalie prospect at the time. I believe he was a 76, but still.

It's not just a throw-in, lol. Iirc Edvinsson is the second best created LD in this league, Power being the first. Bobrovsky won vezina and has a solid contract because of the retention. Girard is a great piece on a great contract. Meanwhile Letang is a good piece but just got downgraded and is 36 years old. He's 50% retained but it's still an expiring contract so it's not a long term retention. Dunn-Steinbergs isn't a 1 for 1 swap... Plus he's a 74, so he'd only be guaranteed to automatically become a 77 by 20 if played in the NHL, but I'm starting him in the AHL. The league has progressed several seasons so the value of goalies is different than when Askarov was the only or one of very few created goalies. Dunn isn't a bad piece, either. He just didn't fit into my lineup. Also, Joubran helps Hockeyist here.
Edvinsson roughly equals the value of Girard because of Girard's contract. Bobrovsky is much more valuable than Letang. Steinbergs makes up for that with Dunn given back because Edmonton still needs to have enough players for his roster lol

You can put me down as rejecting this trade, makes no sense for EDM once you look into EDM's roster more.
It doesn't matter if joubran said it was a good trade or not, he left and is no longer a GM here.

Didn’t you update it though? I only added his drafted prospects, and his FAs. But yeah , I’ve still yet to see an explanation really for any deal that wasn’t about salary. I kinda see Girard and Edvinsson as pretty even in value really. Bobrovsky/Letang with the slight edge to Bob, but still pretty even. Dunn for the Latvian G isn’t really fair. I don’t think

I don’t think I wouldn't do Bobby for Letang one for one or Edvinsson for Girard one for one. This deal works because it gives me the pieces I need together in one deal, which is why I was willing to move Edvinsson. I didn't realize you guys rated a 74 goalie prospect so highly lol

Who has rejected this trade so far? Need people to either Accept or Reject this trade, so the teams can move on.
Also, why is their retention on Letang along with the "Throw-In" 1st rd goalie? There shouldn't be any retention if EDM is giving up Steinbergs and taking Dunn.
Is EDM only doing this trade because they are too lazy to re-sign their players?

This trade wouldn't happen without the retention. Steinbergs isn't just a throw in but it seems his valuation is much different by some others than what I originally thought. It's currently 3 rejects and 3 accepts. Someone needs to make a final decision about this trade so it can either be finalized or reworked

Throw-in, extra, add-on/add-in, include, bonus all could've been used in a way to describe what was being implied by CGY. If you don't understand what I was pointing out, here it is. CGY contradicts himself when trying to upsell his trade. One sentence he uses Edvinsson's age as a plus and in another he implies Steinberg's age is meaningless when he says Dunn + Steinberg are just included to even out the trade. He also implies that an overpriced 3rd pairing dman is equivalent to a top 20 pick.
