Even though Getzalf has been with us for years now I feel its time to move on. Although we negotiated for a decent contract offer, we could not find common ground. We loved him here in Ducksnation and wish him luck in Calgary.

I was told by Ducks that Getzlaf wasn't testing, "Well He is able to sign with me. I just want to try a different path. If you want ask PR" So being that Ryan grew up here in Calgary and we are building a strong young team, I think he will be happy here and I plan to offer him a very strong, long term deal. Based on that, the Calgary Flames accept this trade if PR posts in the trade that Ryan will atleast consider signing here, and isn't planning to test free agency.
