Negotiated with Miiko To LW/C Max Domi PLY 85 (29) 5.7M UFA 2026 RD Kris Letang TWD 88 (37) Rights C/LW Daniil Lazutin SNP 78 (21) RFA rights COL 2024 2nd RD To 8th overall RD Dmitri Semykin TWD 83 (24) 1.75M RFA 2026 8th overall doesn't really fit Boston's lineup, so instead they get Letang as a vet presence to develop Hughes first pair, Domi as a solid forward up front, Lazutin as a sniper prospect, and a 2nd this year for the first and an 83 defenseman. This gives Boston the opportunity to play Hughes-Letang first then Nurse-Chun second to best develop the defensive prospects, and he still has the young Dobson third pair being developed by Pelech.

I’m half cut but this seems like absolute dog shit for Boston How come? 8th is an RD DFD and they already have 3 RD, all 83. The next options are a fairly solid dropoff in value, and since Boston can compete, this gives them an 88 first pair, an 85, a sniper prospect that's NHL ready, and a 2nd this year to still have a pick. It's a non-gm trade so I'm not gonna be upset if it's turned down, just wanna know what you think is wrong with it

Accept
Bos really needed an upgrade on D to help their guys develop. So that’s where the value is in this I think. Letang plays 1st pair again, with Hughes or Chun, and moves Nurse down with the other one. They haven’t made the playoffs since the league started. They need a star vet to help them transition. I don’t really think the 8th helps them that much.
If people don’t like it, just make sure you reject it. I want non GM trades to be a little harder to get through.
Needs 5 accepts or 3 rejects

8th overall pick from last year is an 84 already makes this seem even worse and the year before that the 8th overall pick is an 84 at 20 I get what you’re saying. But just making a blanket statement saying top 10 picks can’t be traded from non GM teams, doesn’t really make sense. There’s more than a couple teams that don’t have room to develop like that anymore. It’s a lot easier to make the jump to 84 than to 88. But I get you

Domi is overpaid and the other 2 players are unsigned. You are also getting a decently signed defeceman back.

You are also getting a decently signed defeceman back. I'm moving Domi because Boston needs forwards and I want to use MPU to play Tkachyov second line. Domi's contract really isn't bad, look around the league at guys like Gusev who are the same overall. That 8th overall will just sit in Boston's AHL and at most be an 80 after one season and that's still unlikely. It'd take several seasons for him to match Letang. So instead they can get playable guys now. Boston has needed a first pair RD for ages. Letang led in TKs despite being second pair on a bottom 6 team. This gives Boston the chance to finally compete. If you think the cap from Domi is so atrocious I could retain some, though

I see where the rejects are coming from, and I’d rather everyone be good with it. I still feel like the main point is being missed though. Letang could be highly sought after. Bringing him probably boosts the chances of Hughes or Chun actually becoming an 88.
The guy getting drafted will NOT be playing NHL unless BOS gets a GM. So the idea that he’s gonna be 84 next season, isn’t accurate
So, that will probably lower Chun/Hughes upgrade potential, as well as stagnate the drafted player. I didn’t really see Domi as a dump, but I get that perspective. I think his salary is pretty much in line with some other guys rated like that. I have Gusev at 85, 5.75M, and I wouldn’t even consider buying him out.

It's a non-gm team trading a top 10 pick. There is a defenceman and a forward they could take. So no matter what they need, it's available.
Trading for letang actually hurts the development of their other defencemen. Usually only 4 dman get a good amount of playing time. With Letang they will have 5.
Nurse, Hughes, Chun, Dobson all need to play in top 4 to be able to grow/upgrade

The problem with Minny was exactly what I’m trying to prevent. Minny had TOO many prospects, not getting good playing time. Players don’t just grow on their own. They need top players to play with. It’s just a fact. That’s why Minny didn’t make the playoffs until there was a GM. You can have too many young guys and it stagnates the team. No offense to LAK, but I think that’s a good example of having too many young guys, without the proper vets to help out. He’s gotten his growth a little sparse, and he’s still getting 1 OA picks. At some point, you’ve got to make the deals to bring in guys. If someone has a guy like a Letang, that they would trade for the 8th OA, I’d love to see the offer

Domi for Semykin is the only thing I see fair here. Lazutin apparently has no value with what you and flames have been saying and the 2nd will be most likely a 3rd/4th liner

Why is everyone is assuming BOS would take a defenceman? Draft the next guy and make him 77 OA. Then that gives BOS the forward they supposedly need. Put all their MPU into Chun & Hughes, then chose btwn Dobson or Semykin to use the last MPUs or use it on one of their younger forwards.
There's so many ways to improve BOS other than trading away a top 10 pick.
2nd rd picks have lost what little value they have now because the league changed the way it does the draft and mirrored hockleague for some reason.

I think he’s got 3 seasons left in the tank. I see where you’re coming from. Just trying to be bold for BOS. I’m tired of them sucking. Another prospect that won’t have an NHL spot. And I’m no gonna put him in NHL just for the sake. They have better players than that, but no one in the Elite range Teams that are constantly rebuilding, just continue to suck. He played AHL because of their depth on D. Have any of you actually looked at their AHL and players? They don’t NEED anything except a top D. That’s the main hole they have. Domi was a throw in, but he still has value. But BOS doesn’t NEED a F Also, the team has 2 Calder’s. Their issues have been not getting players in soon enough, and a logjam of prospects. You guys don’t like the age on Letang? Fine. Good point. Fair point. That’s the ONLY issue with this deal. But to say it’s stupid for BOS to trade the pick I don’t think is really looking at the whole picture

I'll weigh in. What's the harm in trying to take a non-GM team in a different direction than the norm? Boston is a better team next season on paper with Letang and Domi instead of Semykin and the 8th overall. Say this 8th overall is a 77, then becomes an 80 next season at best, then there's a decent chance Boston has to use MPU and/or APU to make that 8th overall anywhere close to Letang, which Boston will be using on other top prospect D men...Miiko is trying to help Boston skip some of the time sucking to make a dent in the shitty Atlantic division.
On the flip side, what are the chances Letang says fuck you to Boston and doesn't sign???

Washington Capitals GM the 8th overall pick from last year already is a 84 after 1 season. The year before that the 8th overall is an 84 after 2 seasons. Also ya Letang could say that which would make a lot of sense since he’s old and would want to play for cups not play on a bottom 10 team from the year before
